Content Description

This collection consists of four individual war ration booklets that contain the actual stamps used for rations. On the front of each booklet there is a space for the person's name, address, signature, and other information. Instructions on how and when these ration stamps should be used is on the back of two booklets. The other two have a much simpler set of instructions. The books are enclosed in a "Household" ration book holder. Ration books and tokens were issued to each person in a household during World War II, dictating how much gasoline, tires, sugar, meat, silk, shoes, nylon and other items any one person could buy.
