Biographical Note
Joseph Frank "Joe" Gregovich was born in 1907. He attended school in Butte, Montana, before going to work at the Anselmo Mine in Butte. He was an active member of the Sacred Heart Parish and Butte Miners Union #1. Anna Gregovich was born in Dillon, Montana, in 1906. The Gregovichs married in 1928. They had three children, Emily, Joanne, and John. Joseph Gregovich died in Butte on August 31, 1956 and Anna Gregovich died in Great Falls, Montana, on July 7, 1969.
Content Description
This collection consists of four individual war ration booklets that contain the actual stamps used for rations. On the front of each booklet there is a space for the person's name, address, signature, and other information. Instructions on how and when these ration stamps should be used is on the back of two booklets. The other two have a much simpler set of instructions. The books are enclosed in a "Household" ration book holder. Ration books and tokens were issued to each person in a household during World War II, dictating how much gasoline, tires, sugar, meat, silk, shoes, nylon and other items any one person could buy.
