Summary
The Department of Journalism was founded in 1947 with Quintus Wilson as head. Parry D. Sorenen became acting head in 1961. Milton C. Hollstein became head in 1962 and remained in that position until 1971. This collection contains correspondence, memoranda, and reports from the files of Quintus C. Wilson and Parry D. Sorensen (1948-1962) and Milton C. Hollstein (1962-1970). The collection also contains a report sent to the Ad Hoc Committee on the Journalism Department in 1970.

Content Description

This collection contains correspondence, memoranda, and reports from the files of Quintus C. Wilson and Parry D. Sorensen (1948-1962) and Milton C. Hollstein (1962-1970). Principal subjects are teaching, student and professional conferences, workshops, and contests. Also included are materials related to participation in professional organizations such as the American Society of Journalism School Administrators and Sigma Delta Chi.

The collection also contains a report sent to the Ad Hoc Committee on the Journalism Department in 1970. The report gives a comprehensive look at the structure and certain problems wthin the Department of Journalism.
