Biographical Note

Content Description
On July 9, 1924, Eleanor R. Baltzell wrote to Mrs. H. R. Wahoske of Great Falls, Montana after reading the proceedings of the Montana Conference of the Daughters of the American Revolution which had recently convened in Great Falls. Baltzell wrote about her father, Thomas P. Roberts and his work with the Northern Pacific Railroad when the line was being surveyed in Montana during 1872 and 1873. Thomas, who worked with his own father, William Milnor Roberts, named many geographic features in the state, and Mrs. Baltzell pointed out paginated references to his work appearing in Olin D. Wheeler's The Trail of Lewis and Clark, 1804-1904 (New York: G. P. Putnam's Sons, 1904). It is written on black-bordered mourning stationery.
The memoir, self-published in 1956, contains poetry and tributes to family members with their photographs included.
