Summary
Law courses were first offered at the University of Utah in 1905-1906 by members of the University faculty and local attorneys. The School of Law was formally established in 1913 and the following June awarded its first L.L.B. degree. During the period covered by these records, Samuel D. Thurman and Walter E. Oberer served as deans. This collection contains memoranda, meeting minutes and reports concerning general college administration, chiefly curricula and faculty personnel matters. The collection also contains correspondence, reports, and legal papers related to the controversy concerning the site of the MX missile system. Also included are schedules, papers, and transcripts of several conferences on Energy and the Public Lands (1976-1980) sponsored by the College of Law and the Environmental Law Institute of Washington, D. C. ; and correspondence regarding the creation of the Energy Law Center and Energy law degree (LL.M.)
