Biographical Note
Nathaniel "Ned" Wagner (died 14 June 1978) was a Professor in the University of Washington's Department of Psychology, with an additional in the Obstetrics and Gynecology department. Specialising in the study of sexuality, Wagner joined the UW faculty in 1962. He taught the popular "Introduction to Human Sexuality" course, and was a prolific researcher in areas relating to sexual behaviour and mores.
As well as his research, Wagner was heavily engaged in anti-racism work and minority outreach, with graduate students crediting him for "single-handedly recruiting minorities into the Clinical Training Program" in the department. He was a popular teacher, and received the university's Distinguished Teaching Award just a week before dying of a heart attack while conducting a workshop in Cleveland.
