Biographical Note

Eldon Reiley (1909-2008) was born in Seattle, WA. He graduated from Queen Anne High School and the University of Washington, where he was a member of the Delta Upsilon fraternity. Eldon served in the United States Coast Guard during World War Two, and went on to be a home builder for thirty-five years. He was married to Helen Lea Reiley with whom he had two children, Eldon H. Reiley and Suzan Reiley.

Home movies depicting family activities, including a wedding, vacations to Chief Joseph Dam, Washington D.C., Massachussetts (House of Seven Gables, Haller Daniel House, Derby Wharf), Mt. Rushmore and the surrounding areas of the Black Hills of South Dakota, Banff Alberta, and the Teton National Forest . Includes footage of the Seattle Monorail and Space Needle, circa 1962.

    1 reel (350 feet): silent, black and white and color ; 8mm

    Scenes of family life including: A family picnic and recreation on the water, a family dinner, a seaplane landing and delivering parcels, hiking, swimming, and a football game (possibly featuring Ballard High School).

    Dates: circa 1948

    Various family activities including: playing with dogs and puppies, sledding and skiing, opening Christmas presents, a turkey dinner, and an Easter egg hunt.
