Samuel Greengard was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1880.

Letter with photo addressed to Debbie and Andy reads: Welcome to the old neighborhood! This is Joe Greengard, whom you have no doubt met at the 4th of July, and me after one of our innumerable marriage ceremonies performed by the nursemaid (seen standing at attention in the house) and attended by his older sister Merle, a reluctant bridesmaid. To this day she asks why we had to get married so many times. The answer is that we were in love! You will wonder about the hair curlers. My aunt, when she came to town, would put up her hair in these tin and rubber curlers. I would ask for one in my hair. Then Joe's sister would ask for one. And on this day Joe did too. So there we stand. It made for one of our most distinctive marriage ceremonies. I'd love to take you for a walk through our neighborhood and give you a rundown on all the 60 year old gossip.
