Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Reva Buell attended Oregon Agricultural College from 1900-1904, where she majored in Household Science. After graduating from OAC, she began a career as a school teacher. Buell married George Case in 1908 and the couple had two children. She died in 1971.

The Reva Buell Photograph Collection is comprised of 14 mounted photographic prints. The images depict Oregon Agricultural College (OAC) military cadets, the track and field team, the 1903/04 basketabll team, and the makers of the 1905 class flag; several OAC buildings; a debate between students regarding the flag over the Administration Hall (now Community Hall); and a group sailing off the coast of Newport, Oregon. Many of the photographs in this collection bear the stamp of Emery Photographers, Corvallis.

Campus buildings are identified by the building name used at the time the photograph was taken. In instances where the building name has changed, the name used at the time of the finding aid's publication appears in brackets.

The Reva Buell Photograph Collection is comprised of one series: Photographs, 1902-1904. The photographs are arranged in the order assigned during the collection's preliminary processing.

Acquisition Information

The Reva Buell Photograph Collection was accessioned by the Oregon State University Archives in the 1960s under the title "Mrs. George Case Photograph Collection." The collection is now housed in the Special Collections and Archives Research Center.

Processing Note

A preliminary container list for this collection was published in 2012. This finding aid has been updated to reflect current arrangement and description best practices. During reprocessing in 2018, 1 modern film copy negative of P065:05 was removed the collection.

The OSU Special Collections and Archives Researcher Center holdings contain numerous photograph and mansucript collections documenting the student experience at Oregon Agricultural College during the early 1900s including the Bertha Andresen Photographs (P 026), the James A. The Reva Buell Photograph Collection is comprised of 14 mounted photographic prints depicting campus scenes and student activities on the Oregon Agricultural College campus from 1902-1904. Campus buildings are identified by the building name used at the time the photograph was taken. In instances where the building name has changed, the name used at the time of the finding aid's publication appears in brackets.
