Biographical Note

Larry W. Earl was a free-lance writer and photographer and a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America. Earl was a resident of Sandpoint, Idaho but his business address for his company, Media Expressions, was at his sister’s home in Spokane, Washington. He would write about vacation destinations, outdoors adventures, and wildlife as well as photograph wildlife and the great outdoors.

The Larry W. Earl papers span the years 1975-1997. Included in the papers are notes used for articles that were published, research materials collected for potential articles, photographs and slides he took and would submit for publishing, and correspondence.

Administrative Information

Arrangement

The original order was retained with all of the materials from the 1999 accession. The collection was divided into three separate series. The first series contains Earl’s notes on articles that he was trying to get published, the second series is materials Earl collected for research purposes for articles he was writing, and the third series is Earl’s collection of photographs and slides that he took.

Custodial History

The papers of Larry W. Earl were in the possession of Larry Earl until they were transferred to the possession of Charles E. Powell who had them until time of donation.

Acquisition Information

The papers of Larry W. Earl were donated to the University of Idaho Library by Charles E. Powell in May 1999 (MA 1999-12)

Processing Note

This collection was processed using the Basic processing method. Some materials were refoldered. The collection was reduced by 9 cubic feet because many of the boxes were only partially full.
