University of Utah University theater records, 1955-1977

This collection includes materials dealing with professional theater productions chiefly in the Pioneer Memorial Theater, as well as records of the academic department of Theatre and Ballet (1962-1965). C. Lowell Lees served as head of the Department of Theatre and Ballet from its inception in 1962 until 1965. The bulk of this collection deals with professional theater production at the University of Utah. Included are production files, correspondence with organizations such as Actors Equity Association, Samuel French, Inc., and Dramatists Play Service, budgets, contracts, meeting minutes, and memoranda. Principal correspondents are J. Boyer Jarvis, Assistant to the President and Administrator of University Theater Activities, and James R. Jack, Director of Development. A small portion of the collection consists of meeting minutes and memoranda of the Department of Theatre and Ballet chiefly concerned with curricula and general department administration.
