Historical Note

As a teenager, Bonnie Speyer became a prominent alpine ski racer in the Intermountain Division of the Junior National Ski Association. She was also a ski racer on the University of Utah Woman's Ski Team (1958). Her father, Fred Speyer, was a stockholder in and manager of the ski lifts at the Alta Ski Resort.

    • Description: Ski Cup Races

      Folder 1 holds news articles publicizing the events and providing results for the following 1957 Ski Cup Races: the annual high school Knutson Cup Race held on Mt. Millicent, Brighton, sponsored by the Brighton Ski Club; the second annual Majestic Cup Ski Race held on Majestic Mountain, Brighton, sponsored by the Usquebaugh Ski Club; and the Salt Lake Tribune Annual Invitational Junior Giant Slalom, sponsored by the Salt Lake Tribune, and held on Mt. Millicent, Brighton. Folder 2 contains information on the 1957 and 1958 Snow Cup Race held at Alta, Utah, sponsored by the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Salt Lake City; and the Intermountain Junior Downhill Race held at Snow Basin Ski Area, Ogden, Utah, sponsored by the Snow Basin Ski Club.
