Historical NoteReturn to Top

The Library Staff Association (LSA) of Washington State University was organized on 29 November 1946 by G. Donald Smith, Director of Libraries. LSA's stated purpose is "to promote the welfare and mutual understanding of the library staff and to assist in making the library an effective agency for the improvement of the social, cultural and economic life of the college community" (from Article II, Sec. 1, of the LSA constitution as amended October 1974). The association was an organizer of staff social functions, an advocate of better working conditions, and the improvement of library services. LSA also published its own bulletin, "Open Stacks".
