Biographical Note

Erna Brite (1893-1986) was born Erna Friedlander on December 17, 1893 in Breslau, Germany. She married Emanuel Breitkopf (1892-1985) on September 14, 1919. They lived in Breslau, Germany and worked in work camps. They went into hiding between January 1944 and May 1945. They came to New York in 1946 and changed their surname to Brite. The family moved to Seattle in 1951.
