Biographical Note
Lyman P. Hunter was born in Salt Lake City on 1 December 1898 to Edward W. and Elizabeth Adeline Porter Hunter. He attended LDS High School and then the University of Utah, studying chemistry and engineering. He worked as a chemist for the Utah-Idaho Sugar Company from 1922 to 1924, then worked for Bennett's Glass and Paint until his retirement in 1968. Hunter was the author of many articles and presented several papers on paint technology. Lyman P. Hunter died in 1985.

The photographs in this collection are scenes of Southern Utah and the Four-Corners Area during the 1920s. Included are several particularly interesting views of Mesa Verde National Monument. There is also one portrait of Orson Pratt.
