Autograph letter, signed, in French, to "Cher Monsieur" (evidently Andre Maurois). Woolf thanks him for a book he gave her, evidently his 1934 novel L'instinct du bonheur. She describes her pleasure in reading it on a holiday trip to Ireland.

Woolf was a well-known author whose works included novels, poetry, biography, travel books, and essays. She was the co-founder and operator of the Hogarth Press with her husband, Leonard Woolf. She was a member of the the Bloomsbury group, a circle of authors and other intellectuals living in or near the Bloomsbury district of London in the early twentieth century.
