Walter Gross (1909-1967) was born in New York City. During his long musical career he worked as a pianist, composer, arranger, orchestral leader, and record company executive. He is best known for his 1946 song “Tenderly” which became a pop standard after being recorded by Rosemary Clooney in 1952.
