Historical Note
Carl B. Squier was an air pilot and aviation industry executive. He was licensed as a pilot in 1916 and served in World War I. In 1929 he took over Detroit Aircraft's subsidiary, Lockheed Aircraft Corporation. He became Lockheed's vice president in charge of sales, retiring in 1958.
Content Description
The collection contains photographs, scrapbooks, speeches, and research files on Lockheed and the aviation industry. Also included are audiotapes of Carl Squier and his colleagues. Many of the tapes contain interviews conducted by Squier's wife, June Knight, for a proposed biography. In addition there is personal and professional correspondence covering World War I, Lockheed, aviation organizations, and retirement.
