Lyman Trumbull Babcock was born in the Midwest in 1866 and moved to the Palouse region as a young man in the early 1890's. He was a professional educator, working at several rural schools throughout the area before becoming superintendent of Whitman County Schools in 1924. Babcock served in that capacity for eleven years, retiring in 1935.

This collection consists of a single item, "Two Worlds: A Reminiscence and Autobiography" (typescript, approximately 455 pages) by Lyman Trumbull Babcock about his life from the late 19th century to the mid 20th century. Babcock's recollections include his boyhood, education, move to the Pacific Northwest and career as an educator. The collection includes additional notes made by Babcock's daughter and grandson.
