The Manufacturing Engineering Cooperative Program (MECOP) was established in 1978 as a collaboration between OSU and Oregon-based manufacturing companies to provide Oregon State engineering students a working laboratory to apply the theories they learned in the classroom. In 1992, the mechanical, electrical and chemical engineering departments began participating and the program was renamed the Multiple Engineering Cooperative Program. Program participants complete two 6-month internships in industry during their undergraduate degree program.
Instruction in engineering at Oregon State dates back to the 1880s and academic departments for engineering were established in the 1890s-1900s. In 1908, the School of Engineering was established.

The College of Engineering Moving Images consist of two videotapes and a motion picture film. One of the videotapes describes the Multiple Engineering Cooperative Program (MECOP) and includes footage of current and former engineering students and representatives of companies that host interns through MECOP. The second videotape, Enginuity, is a promotional and recruiting videotape about the College of Engineering academic departments and programs. It includes footage of College of Engineering faculty and students. Both videotapes are VHS format. The videotapes have been digitized and are available online and on DVD in the reading room. Links to online streaming video are included with the detailed descriptions of the videotapes.
The motion picture film, Industrial Engineers was produced in about 1980 by Oregon State University. It is 16 mm color with sound and is about 15 minutes long (600 feet).

Arrangement
The College of Engineering Moving Images are arranged in two series: I. Videotapes, circa 1995 - 1996 and II. Motion Picture Films, circa 1980.
Acquisition Information
The videotapes were transferred to the University Archives in 1998; the motion picture was transferred to the Special Collections & Archives Research Center in 2012.
Future Additions
Additions are expected to the collection.
