Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Evelyn Mildred Raymond was born on August 20, 1908 in Days Creek, Oregon. She attended Oregon State Agricultural College, and was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. In 1946, she married Durnin L. Swingley of Lewistown, Montana. In 1952, Evelyn and Durnin returned to Days Creek to manage her family's ranching operation. She died on November 27, 2001.

The Evelyn M. Raymond Photograph Album contains 167 black and white photographs assembled by Raymond as an adolescent while living in rural Douglas County in Oregon. The majority of images include captions identifying family members and friends. Several images depict recreation activities including swimming, bicycle riding and road trips to local destinations. Excursion locations include Crater Lake National Park, Mill Creek Falls, Gold Hill Dam, the Rogue River, Camas Valley, Canyonville, and Cow Creek. Additional images document local industries such as farming, ranching, logging and quarrying.
