Biographical Note

L. Mayland Parker was born October 20, 1919 in Hooper, Utah to Levi Cox Parker and Marietta Rachel Parkinson Parker. He obtained his bachelor of science degree in accounting and business at Brigham Young University in 1947. Next obtained a masters of arts in geography at the University of Utah in 1954, and a PhD in agricultural economics at Cornell University in 1954. He was a professor of agricultural economics at Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona from 1955-1972, and then professor of geography from 1972-1986.

Parker married Betty Ruth Christensen in 1944. He died on November 15, 1995.
