Historical Note

Mary Hooper Blood Linford (1869-1963) was born on 6 November 1869 in Kaysville, Utah, to Jane Wilkie Hooper and William Blood. She was educated at Brigham Young College and the Utah State Agricultural College. She married James Henry Linford on 24 February 1892. The couple had six sons and one daughter. Mrs. Linford was named Utah Mother of the Year by the Utah Federated Women's Clubs in 1950. In addition to being an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she was a member of the Clio Club, the Utah State Agricultural College Faculty Women's League, and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Her brother, Henry H. Blood, was Utah's seventh governor. Mrs. Linford died on 30 March 1963.
