Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Anthony Seeger is an ethnomusicologist and social anthropologist from the United States. He earned his BA from the Department of Social Relations, Harvard University in 1967; his MA in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago in 1970; and his PhD in Anthropology from the University of Chicago in 1974. He is a Distinguished Professor of Ethnomusicology, Emeritus at UCLA and a Research Associate at the Smithsonian Institution. His research has focused on the mythology and culture of the Arunta people of Australia and the Ge people of Central Brazil.
