John William Alan Okell (1934-) is a linguist from the United Kingdom. Okell studied literature at Oxford before joining the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) to learn Burmese. He traveled to Burma in 1960 and 1969. In 2016, SOAS granted him an honorary doctorate.
