Martha White Sick was born Martha McRedmond White and was the daughter of Justice William Henry White and Emma McRedmond White. Her maternal grandparents were Captain Luke and Mrs. Katherine McRedmond. They had four children: Emma, Anna, William, and David.
Captain Luke M. McRedmond settled the area of Redmond, Washington, in 1871. The city of Redmond was named in his honor. His daughter, Emma McRedmond, became the postmistress of Redmond in 1885. She married Justice William Henry White in 1898, and their fourteen-bedroom home, which was also Hotel Redmond, was built in 1900. William Henry White was appointed Washington State Supreme Court justice in 1900 and retired from the bench in 1911.
Martha McRedmond married Raymond Locke Gardner in 1921, and they had four children. Raymond Locke Gardner was the son of Charles A. Gardner and Effie Pauline Locke Gardner. Mr. Gardner passed away in 1961.
Martha White Gardner married Emil G. Sick in 1963. He was the son of Fritz Sick of Freiburg, Germany. Emil Sick was the owner of the Rainier Brewery and the Seattle Rainiers (formerly the Indians); he also was the builder of Sick's Stadium. In 1918 he married Kathleen Thelma McPhee, and they had five children. Kathleen died in 1962. Emil Sick passed away on November 10, 1964, and Martha White Sick died on July 13, 1992.
