Historical NoteReturn to Top

The Walla Walla Citizens Committee for Historic and Civic Development was formed May 1, 1962, for the purpose of establishing a museum in Fort Walla Walla Park. After six years of planning and budgeting, the Fort Walla Walla Museum opened in 1968. At one point, the committee had upward of 50 members, many of whom were influencial community members. They merged with the Pioneer and Historical Society around 1975; an organization which manages the museum to this day.
