Donald E. Frederick (1860-1937) was one of the founders of Frederick and Nelson's department store, Seattle, Washington.

Correspondence, real estate and personal tax statements (bulk of collection), and tax assessments regarding the D.E. Frederick estate in the Highlands, (Seattle, Washington) and other property holdings. The home in the Highlands was purchased by the University of Washington, but subsequently resold to the Highlands Corp. One letter (1933) from James Dawson of Olmsted Brothers, Landscape Architects, regarding some landscaping work on the Highlands property is included.

The collection was donated by Philip and Fay (Frederick) Padelford, 12/3/1969. Fay Padelford was the daughter of Douglas E. Frederick.
