Biographical Note
Carrie M. White was born on April 21, 1860, in Littleton, Iowa. In August 1872, the White family moved to Seattle for one year before settling on a farm at the head of Fidalgo Bay on Fidalgo Island. In 1885, the White family moved to the west shore of Fidalgo Bay, at the foot of 29th Street in Anacortes. The family built a new home farther back from the bay in 1891, where Carrie White lived until her death in 1904.
Following her graduation from the University of Washington in 1878, White returned to Fidalgo Island. She was an active member of her community, and served as the president of the Washington Territory Women's Christian Temperance Union. She was also the president of the Fidalgo Island Women's Christian Temperance Union, which was later known as the Anacortes Union. White died in Anacortes, Washington, on September 30, 1904.
