Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Priest Lake Coalition was created in 1983 for various reasons, including protecting all Idaho State lands for the outdoor recreational enjoyment by the general public. It opposed the Diamond International Corporation (General Oriental Ltd’s) recreational plan for development on the east side of Priest Lake, which would have involved a land swap of property administrated by the Idaho State Land Board for the benefit of the public school endowment fund.
Content DescriptionReturn to Top
The Priest Lake Coalition records span the years 1981-1985 and includes materials and correspondence from the organization Concerned Residents of Priest Lake, also known as the Concerned Citizens of Priest Lake. The reason for this is that Claude Simpson, the donor, was the Chairman of both organizations. Included in the records are articles of incorporation, correspondence, mailing lists, news clippings, minutes of the meetings, and five audiocassette tapes.
