The collection (1968-1971) contains feature stories written by Ted J. Bush and others regarding life in South Vietnam during the Vietnam War.
The stories give the impression that wartime South Vietnam was a "pleasant place." Topics include electric power cooperatives in small towns ("Brightening the Hamlets"), and efficient transportation despite minor obstacles ("Vietnam's Trains are Running"). The Vietnam War itself is mentioned incidentally.
