Historical Note

The Western Humanities Review (originally the Utah Humanities Review) has been published at the University of Utah since 1947. It was originally published by the Utah Humanities Research Foundation, but was taken over by the Department of English in 1962. It contains poetry, short stories, essays, and reviews. Jack Garlington served as editor from 1962-1986.

Content Description

This collection contains correspondence, memoranda, grant applications, and galley proofs. Most of the materials concern acceptance and rejection of submissions, solicitation of reviews, and internal organizational matters. Included are galley proofs of three issues in 1988. There are also letters signed by Wallace Stegner, Dale L. Morgan, Joyce Carol Oates, Robert Penn Warren.
