Historical NoteReturn to Top

Hugo Zemp (1937-) was an ethnomusicologist from Switzerland. He studied musicology and anthropology at the University of Basle before earning his doctorate from École pratique des hautes études in Paris. During his career, he produced films and wrote papers about the music of Africa, Oceania, and Switzerland. He also edited a recording series and became a director of research at the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS). His area of interest was yodeling and lullabies.
