Historical NoteReturn to Top
Sam Coslow (1902-1982) was an American composer, lyricist, market analyst, and publisher. Coslow sold his first song in 1918 at the age of sixteen, and began writing music for Hollywood films in the late 1920s. In addition to writing music for film, Coslow wrote several songs that were recorded by acts like Al Jolson and Bing Crosby. During the 1930s Coslow began to produce films in addition to his musical work, and he won the 1944 Academy Award for best musical short for his film “Heavenly Music.” During the 1960’s Coslow’s work shifted from music and film to market analysis. Coslow founded the publishing company Investor’s press, which published the newsletter “Indicator Digest” and several investing books. In the 1970s Coslow wrote two books, “Cocktails for Two” which focused on his musical career and “Super Yields” which focused on investing.
