Biographical NoteReturn to Top
Solomon Birulin was born in 1921 in Russia; his family moved to Tientsin, China, where he attended an English school. When the Japanese began making aggressive moves toward China, the family then moved to the United States, where they settled in Seattle. Solomon enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed overseas. After the war, he enrolled at the University of Washington, and eventually became a teacher.
