Collection of newspaper clippings about various Native American issues, tribes, individuals, and current events from 1962-1963 from newspapers such as the Yakima Herald, Tacoma News Tribune, Seattle Times, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, The Oregonian, The Catholic Northwest Progress (Official Newspaper for the Archdiocese of Seattle), and The Olympian. Collection is mainly focused on the "Yakima" (Yakama) tribe but also include clippings on the Swinomish, Klamath (Oregon), Quillayute, Catawba (South Carolina), and Navajo (Arizona). Many of the clippings focus on the Indian Jurisdiction Bill in Washington State which would allow for state control of reservations; it passed in 1963. Other topics include fishing rights, local news about individuals, the Yakima Indian Youth Camp, events such as the dedication of a new longhouse at Wapato, voting issues, and historical pieces on the Medicine Creek Treaty of 1854 and the 1862 Sioux Massacre.
