Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Mustapha Tettey Addy (1942-) is a master drummer and ethnomusicologist from Avenor, Ghana. He founded the Obonu Dummers, a musical group who performs compositions written by Addy that are based on the royal Obonu drumming of the Ga people. Addy is also known for popularizing the kpanlogo drum in the West. He has recorded multiple drumming albums and toured around the world playing his music.
