Historical Note
T.A. and Amelia Kent were settlers in the Wyoming Territory. They came to Cheyenne in 1867 where he became a business man dealing with wholesale liquor and banking. Kent lost his fortune in the panic of 1893 and moved to Colorado where he worked in real estate until his death. The Kents started and raised their family in Cheyenne, Wyoming; they had three children. Their daughter, Amelia Kent, became the First Lady of Wyoming when she married Amos W. Barber, Governor of Wyoming from 1890-1893.
Content Description
The collection contains two cookbooks of Amelia Kent's handwritten recipes created and used while the family lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming (1867-1893); artifacts such as two quirts, a sword, leather belt, and U.S. flag with 45 stars; and legal documents regarding T.A. and Amelia Kent's immigration, marriage, and land purchases in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
