Historical NoteReturn to Top
Robert T. Helvey (1888 or 1889-1964), a rancher, came to Wyoming at age 19. He married Lona Martin, a native of Big Horn, Wyoming in 1909. He managed the Wyoming Securities Company's ranch holdings from 1922-1944. After Helvey left the Wyoming Securities Company, he returned to ranching and private investing. From 1952-1966 he conducted over 150 hours of taped interviews with early Wyoming and Montana settlers.

Collection contains reel-to-reel audio tapes and transcripts of interviews conducted by Helvey (1952-1966). Collection also includes materials relating to Helvey's work with the Wyoming Securities Company; Robert T. Helvey's and the Martin family's correspondence, financial statements and miscellaneous legal materials (1883-1961); records relating to Verner C. Reed, whose investments were handled by Helvey; Sheridan's Girl's Industrial School and newspaper clippings (1909-1963). Also included are photographs of the Helvey family, Martin family and Sheridan, Wyoming, area.
