Historical Note
The Samaritan Society (Samarit for bundet) was founded in affiliation with the Swedish Hospital in Seattle to obtain free medical care for needy Swedish people and, where appropriate, to help the sick person after discharge from the hospital. Membership was open to Swedish women in the area "who felt called upon to aid and help their suffering and needy countrymen."
