Historical Note

Affiliated and chartered club of Young Judea, a national Zionist youth group. The Maccabee Club was formed in November 1918 for Jewish youth of seventeen and older. Its purpose was "to advance the cause of Zionism, to further the mental, moral and physical development of the Jewish youth and to promote Jewish culture and ideals in accordance with Jewish tradition." Early meetings of the club were held at the Educational Center at 18th and Main streets. The meeting place was later changed to the Y.M.H.A. The newsletter began publication in January 1921.
