Content DescriptionReturn to Top
This collection consists of a report by the Army Corp of Engineers entitled “The Flight of the ‘Salmon Fly’: A Reconnaissance Trip Down the ‘River of No Return’ Salmon River, Idaho June 20 to July 2, 1944”. The purpose of the trip was to evaluate sites for possible high dams and the selection of a series of dams that might develop the entire fall of the river. Only portions of the river course not accessible by roads were considered during the trip. Senior engineer K. M. MacDuffee compiled the report from logs kept by engineers L. E. Rydell, S. E. Sporseen, and F. O. McGrew. The report includes photographs and maps. In addition, the collection includes a small amount of materials about the Salmon River, as well as a funeral notice and program for S. E. Sporseen.
