Arrangement

The legislative papers of Otto Amen at the Libraries of Washington State University in 1985 consist of subject files, constituent correspondence, and various reports and enclosures. The majority of the documents are from Amen's final two terms in the Legislature, during the years 1979 - 1983. The papers are filed in the original order in which they were received. The papers are divided into three series according to time periods: 1. before 1979 (folders 1-80); 2. 1979 to 1981 (folders 81-196); 3. 1981 to 1983 (folders 197-360). Each of the series is further divided according to the topics. Papers before 1979 are divided into three subseries: Miscellaneous; Appropriations, and House Bills. Papers from 1979 to 1981 are divided into four subseries: Correspondence (arranged according to places of the correspondents first and then according to topics discussed); Bills sponsored by Otto Amen; Miscellaneous; Appropriation.
