Historical NoteReturn to Top
Pullman’s CCC camp, SCS-2, company 2914, opened June 18 1935 and was based at the current location of the Moscow-Pullman Airport. SCS indicates it was supervised by the Soil Conservation Service. While a second company, 554, followed in the same location in 1937, the relevant photographs in this scrapbook are from company 2914.
Content DescriptionReturn to Top
The collection consists of one 33 page scrapbook, containing 153 black and white photographs. The images are unlabeled and undated, so all context comes from the images themselves.
The first portion of the scrapbook depicts Pullman, Washington’s Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) camp SCS-2 company 2914, primarily barracks 5 and 6, and associated projects. Subsequent portions of the scrapbook appear to include further CCC work at an undetermined location, military training in or near King City, CA, and finally military life on one of the Hawaiian islands.

Acquisition Information
The scrapbook was donated to the Washington State University Libraries’ Manuscripts, Archives, and Special Collections by Ludeen Floyd of Vancouver, WA, on June 24, 2019. The scrapbook had belonged to Mrs. Floyd’s daughter, who had died several years earlier. That daughter had no ties to WSU, and had received the scrapbook from another individual, whose identity was no longer known. The scrapbook was retained as UPC-1905, and processed in July, 2019 by University Archivist Mark O’English.
Processing Note
All materials were retained complete, in their original housing and order.
