Biographical NoteReturn to Top

Niranjan Benegal, a native of India, was an architect by profession and a resident of Seattle since 1966. Coming from a family of artists, photographers and filmmakers, he pursued photography and film making as a serious hobby. He won several photography awards in collegiate competitions in India and in the U.S. and won the first place award in short films at the 1969 NW Experimental Film Festival in Seattle.

Recorded by Niranjan Benegal on audio cassettes, January - June 1986, at the home of Niranjan and Shantha Benegal, Seattle, Washington.

Performers: Yunus Hussain Khan, vocalist and teacher; Shantha Benegal, vocalist and student; Faiyaz Khan, tabla; Prabha Rustagi, tabla.

18 original cassettes digitized October 2015 (35 WAV files - 48 kHz, 24-bit) and copied to compact disc (28 Work Discs) (cassettes returned to Shantha Benegal)
