Historical Note
Robert D. Bedinger was an American military pilot and civil aeronautics official. He received pilot training in France in 1917 and became an instructor during World War I. He engaged in barnstorming in the West Indies during the 1920s. During World War II he was called up from reserve and served with the Air Transport Command. He later worked for the Civil Aeronautics Administration in the western United States and Alaska.

The collection contains papers documenting Bedinger's career as a pilot, instructor, and administrator. Included are log books, copies of orders, and other materials. Photographs include images of flight school, the West Indies, Alaska, and Amelia Earhart.
