Historical Note
In 1960, Washington State beef producers organized the Washington State Beef Council as a non-profit corporation with the purpose of increasing the sale and consumption of beef through persuading the public of the value, cost, and desirability of beef products. The Council collected a five-cent contribution per head on all cattle marketed to educate the public regarding the nutritional and economic advantages of beef. In 1975, the Council disbanded to become a part of the Washington Beef Commission.
Content Description
The records consist of general correspondence from 1950 to 1975, meeting minutes from 1950 to 1968, records of contributions, tax and financial statements, and television public relations documents.
