Biographical Note
Ivan Ozbolt, a graduate of University of Oklahoma, joined the language department of UO in spring 2015. Ozbolt is from France and graduated from the University of Paris in 2003. He enrolled in a student exchange program through the University of Denver in 2004. Ozbolt found himself increasingly interested in Native American cultures. This interest drew him to the University of Oklahoma, known nationwide for its prodigious Native American studies programs. In 2006, he graduated with his Master’s in Native American Studies from OU. He received a Ph.D. in Anthropology with an emphasis in linguistics in December 2014. His studies examine languages by looking at its cultural and social context. In 2015 the UO language department offered him a chance to teach Potawatomi. Ozbolt received a Jacobs Research Fund grant in 2013.
