Historical Note
The Cosmopolitan Club at Washington State University, an organization for international students and others with an interest in international relations, was active during two different time periods. It was formally organized in 1910, but became inactive a few years later, perhaps because of World War I. The group was organized again in 1922 as a branch of the American Cosmopolitan Clubs, and remained active from that time through the early 1940s. The primary purpose of the Cosmopolitan Club was to provide social and cultural opportunities for foreign students.
Content Description
The papers in this collection include official records of the Cosmopolitan Club such as minutes, by-laws, and correspondence, as well as scrapbooks and other documents recording the activities of the organization. All are from the period of Professor Carl Milton Brewster's association with the club, and many of them are directly related to his work with the club and individual students.
