Historical NoteReturn to Top
The Midwest Pilgrims is a yearly retreat for Christian and Mormon women to present on and discuss theological, church, and women's issues. The initial meeting was organized by "The Chicago Six," Susan Rugh, Charlotte Johnston, Erika Munson, Susan Wakefield, Lorie Stromberg, and Cathy Stokes, who collaborated with other women from Salt Lake City in 1983 to arrange the retreat. Many of the attendees were prominent Mormon academics and writers, including Emma Lou Thayne, Susan Elizabeth Howe, and Maureen Ursenbach Beecher among others.
