Accession No. 3045-001: Maria Schenk interview tapes, 1975Return to Top
Scope and Content: Tape recorded interviews.
Original tapes B,C,D,F, and G were dubbed onto better quality tapes. Interviews with four Filipino immigrants who came to U.S. at different periods, 1920s, 1940s, 1960s, and with one second generation Filipino, concerning problems of assimilation into American society and comparisons between different periods. Pre-war (1920s), Vic Bacho, Ponce Torres; Post-war (1940s), Mrs. Bacho; New wave (1960s) - Archie Garcia, Fred Cordova (2nd generation). Included is a tape of a 1975 television program on the subject of the licensing problems of immigrant Filipino medical doctors in Seattle in which Dr. Archimedes Garcia is interviewed.
